Happy Halloween

To start the festivities off a little early, why don't you take a look at these Burzum lyrics?

28 Days Later: Clear Case Why the Second Amendment Will Save Lives.

28 Days Later, the popular and recent movie about human-hunting zombies is an obvious case why the 2nd amendment will save lives. In the movie, zombies were infected with "Rage," a disease that made them go insane, kill and eat uninfected humans. The movie is directed by Danny Boyle, who you may remember as the director of the sleeper hit "Trainspotting." 28 Days Later takes place in England and follows around a main character and the 4 people he eventually meets. The zombies hunt them wherever they go, and they have to fend them off with crude instruments such as bats and machetes.
This would never happen in America.
Because we have an amendment that lets us own huge high-powered semi-automatic (DEFEAT THE ASSAULT ARMS BAN!!!) weapons pretty much regardless of criminal records, if America was faced with insane violent zombies we would be ready and able to fend off the bloodsuckers because we are allowed to own guns. Now, as is the case in Britain, they were not allowed to own weapons, so the zombies ran roughshod all over those Limeys. Sure, guns kill the people in the house more often that is used to protect them, but think about if the United States was over run with violent zombies! We'd lick them zombies good! So next time some Commie, Godless, Pinko Liberal says that we shoud "Get rid of weapons that are designed to kill people and animals" you tell that fascist that damn right they are made to kill people, but mainly violent insane zombies!
God Bless George Bush, and God Bless America!

He's Even Worse Than I Thought

Sen. Miller endorses Bush's re-election campaign
Not content with blasting the Democrats in his latest book, Zell Miller has now actually endorsed Bush and has offered to do all he can to help him win re-election. Since Miller isn't running for re-election and has no reason to appeal to the conservative Georgia electorate, I think these moves were designed to land him a job with Bush & Co. for the second term or maybe he was just born a huge jerk that deserves only the society of swine and other beasts.

Miller, in all his toolish glory.

Newspaper: VARG VIKERNES Carried Military Equipment At The Time Of His Arrest - Oct. 28, 2003

BURZUM mastermind Varg Vikernes, who is serving a 21-year sentence for the August 1993 murder of MAYHEM guitarist Oystein Aarseth (a.k.a. Euronymous), was carrying enough arms and military equipment at the time of his latest arrest to pass for a commando, Norwegian daily newspaper VG reports in today's edition.

more later...

Uh.... Uh.... He Did It! / Uh.... Uh.... 9/11 Did It!

Uh.... Uh.... He Did It!
You, my educated readers, probably remember the shot of Bush on the aircraft carrier (not the one where he did the circus stunt landing though) with the troops and the giant banner that screamed "Mission Accomplished" right after the end of the splendid little war. Its been made fun of a lot because, obviously, mission not accomplished. So instead of admitting that he is an ass (which I don't blame him for not doing) Bush has blamed the placement of the giant goddamn banner on one of his aides, or something.
When it was brought up again Tuesday at a news conference, Bush said, "The `Mission Accomplished' sign, of course, was put up by the members of the USS Abraham Lincoln, saying that their mission was accomplished."
"I know it was attributed somehow to some ingenious advance man from my staff — they weren't that ingenious, by the way."
Uh huh.... Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
----------------------------------------------------------
Uh.... Uh.... 9/11 Did It!
Thumping the lectern with his finger, Bush said, "We should never forget the lessons of Sept. 11. The terrorists will strike." They will not only strike targets in Baghdad, he added, saying "they will strike America, too."
9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11
Wait, what are we supposed to remember, even though you say it all the time regardless if its a soybean conference or whatever... Damn it! What am I supposed to remember?
I'm so glad I didn't see that speech because, and you probably have noticed it as well, whenever George II speaks, he always inserts pauses after ever goddamn thing he says. What is wrong with him? God............Bless...............The..............U...............S.............A

Yo

Yo Dave, are you sick? I didn't see you in English today. Speaking of which, beware of the pop test. Also, may I have a look at the discussion sheet soon?

Libertarians are conspiring to drag us back to the stone age (or at least the bronze age)

We have all encountered Libertarians before. They were those kids in middle school who thought Anarchy was the coolest thing since blink 182, and now they have grown up and started a political party. However, Im not going to explain to you why they are stupid. Instead Im going to present you with quotes from several Libertarians, so you can formulate your own oppinion:

"I don't like to go places that don't let me have my gun,"

"I want to be a billionaire in my lifetime, and I don't want to live among people who think that's bad."

... Ms. McKinstry said, pointing to their mascot, a porcupine — "a friendly little forest creature who doesn't harm anyone else, minds his own business, but is not really someone that you want to mess with or you might get stuck and a little ouchy."

"I radically oppose public education. It's demeaning and it creates criminals." And she says "the thing that hurts poor people is they don't know how to think of themselves as rich."

Mr. Somma doesn't argue against public schools, but maintains that they get too much money, which is good only "if you have to have nice school buildings and computers and all that." "Back in the day," he said, "they didn't need all that to teach kids. Back in the day, you were sitting around on rocks and listening to a guy talk."

See what I mean?
(this was all out of the NY times, 10/27/03)

Biggest* Deficit EVER!

Well, not quite. In absolute terms, we are running the largest federal budget deficit ever. As a percentage of the Gross Domestic Product, the deficit isn't the biggest, but it is still one of the largest. Since WWII, the only deficits that have been larger as a portion of the GDP were 85-86 and 91-92 deficits. Needless to say, all of these mammoth deficits were under Republican Presidents.

Another Gem from Newsmax, St. Reagan's Martyr Brigade

Nancy Reagan Should Sue CBS
“The Reagans” is nothing but a defamatory hatchet job sanctioned for the sole purpose of destroying a dying man’s legacy. The author of the screenplay, the producers and CBS all know
that.

Therefore, CBS must be stopped from ever airing the program.

Ah yes, because public criticism of a public figure hurts their reputation...so its SLANDER! Actually, its libel, something which seems to suprise our esteemed collegues at newsmax, as you can see from the is excerpt:

Defamation comes in two “flavors”: libel and slander. Libel covers written or printed publication whereas slander covers verbal communication (publication). Libel is easier to prove because, unlike slander, libel is right there in black and white.

Interestingly, courts generally consider defamation that occurs via television broadcast “libel” as opposed to “slander.”

But clearly, this guy knows what he's talking about, he's looked up a few supreme court precedents! Do realize how much work that is? Though even the laziest high school student in the world could just dick around with google for a few minutes and do the same thing, it is still really impressive. Really. It is so impressive that I'm sure this column is going straight on fridge of the author's mother, right over that really ugly collage and the equivalency diploma from that internet university.

I know that this post doesn't really make sense, but don't forget the moral of the story: newsmax is written by dumb bastards for really dumb bastards.

So Life Like!

"Liberals hate America, they hate flag-wavers, they hate abortion opponents, they hate all religions except Islam, post 9/11. Even Islamic terrorists don't hate America like Liberals do. They don't have the energy. If they had that much energy, they'd have indoor plumbing by now."

Seeing as how there is little difference between the unthinking, conservative cliche spewing Ann Coulter doll and the real unthinking, conservative cliche spewing Ann Coulter, I think this could be the source of some confusion.

The Public Interest's Axis of Innuendo

And it reminds us that in those countries most friendly to us, the anti-American party is about the same size as the peace party here.

-"Defining the 'peace party'", The Public Interest

That's some clever phrasing, implying that the American peace movement is somehow related to anti-americanism (and they have such an airtight case, too. Look, they are polling about the same! It couldn't be coincidence. Never.) abroad without ever explicitly making such a claim. I wonder if these guys hang out with the speech writers at the White House who always put 9-11 and Saddam Hussein in the same sentence. I should never have expected anything other than this nonsense from a publication founded by one of the Kristols.

A Preview of 2004

Each day the Republican strategy for the Presidential election becomes increasingly clear. I suspect that the GOP is going to focus on social issues in order to the divert Geoge W. Bush's serious domestic and foreign policy failures. I don't expect Bush to brag about how we went from record budget surpluses to record deficits or how he's the first president since Herbter Hoover to finish his term with fewer jobs than when he started. In 2002, the Republicans tried to use the Iraq War/the War on terror as a campaign tool, they may try it again, but they'll be more hesitant this time. Bush's $87 billion request for reconstructing Iraq is unpopular and more bad news from Iraq can be expected for some time to come. Bush's early declaration of victory makes the situation in Iraq an even greater political liability for him; it is a pretty safe bet that Bush's ridiculous carrier landing will make an appearance in countless Democratic attack ads. Having screwed up on all fronts, the Right is gearing up to refight the culture war. The talk of an anti-gay marriage amendment to the constitution, the White House's coddling of General Boykin (who called Islam idolatry and said the war on terrorism was a religious war) and the passage of the partial birth abortion ban ares signs of a new focus on social issues. It is also likely that the Supreme Court's peldge of allegiance ruling (especially if the Supreme Court uphold's the 9th circuit court's decision) and its decision legalizing sodomy are going to be used as campaign fodder by the Republicans.

I'm not really sure how the Democrats should handle this Republican strategy (if I am right and it really is their plan). I wouldn't want them to embrace reactionary posistion. Co-opting the Republicans is unlikely to work since the convetional wisdom is that the Democrats are social liberals and any attempt to prove otherwise would be greeted with great skepticism and is unseemly to boot. I think the best we can do, is avoid giving conservatives an easy target like Howard Dean and instead appealing to middle america with style, if not substance by nominating someone from the South or Middle West (basically anyone who is not Dean or Kerry).

Winger Watch

The Weekly Standard is still claiming that Iraq supported Al Qeada. They even say that Saddam was Bin Laden's best friend! The Standard would carry Bush's war to hell and back if he asked them to.

Wei Yang Better Watch It....

Taiwan has ability to construct subs, consultants report

They are only diesel submarines, but its still a step in the right direction. It also shows that Taiwan is becoming less dependent on US arms, which is good for everyone, everyone but the Chinese.

A Second Look at the Newsmax.com Readership.

Cigarettes and smoking is bad for you, so is drinking a lot of coffee. Wait, no it isn't! According to William Campbell Douglass, M.D, having a bunch of cigars a day, and drinking a bunch of coffee is good for you! And don't let those quack "diet Nazi's" tell you how to live your life.

Here are a couple great selections from his website:

But notice I didn't say that smoking tobacco is harmful. Quite the contrary, in fact. The benefits of moderate smoking of pure, unadulterated tobacco (like what's in a fine cigar) have been known for centuries. Good luck finding this out from our friends in the medical mainstream, however.

As far off as it may sound, up to four cigars a day can help anyone:

Maintain optimum weight and Body Mass Index
Stay as mentally sharp and alert as possible
Avoid (and combat) addictions to truly harmful substances

WOW Dr. Douglass! You have a cure for cancer, heart attacks, joint pain, the flu, colds and "deadly disease?!" You should be the Surgeon General and help the world!!!
Oh wait, whats this?
The National Health Federation (NHF) is an alliance of promoters and followers who engage in lobbying campaigns and many other activities. It is antagonistic toward established medical practices and uses the words "alternative," and "freedom" to suit its own purposes. The information in this article was published in 1993 as part of a chapter on "Health Freedom Crusaders" in my book, The Health Robbers: A Close Look at Quackery in America. As you read this article, keep in mind that it describes things as they were more than ten years ago. Nearly all of the people mentioned are no longer in leadership positions, some have died, and I suspect that NHF has fewer members than it did in 1993. However, its focus and activities have not changed.

And you say that the majority of its founders have been fined or done time for selling or distributing bogus medicine? Not Dr. Douglass! He would neeeeeeeeeeeeeever do that!
Once again, newsmax.com knows its subscribers well.

Dems Push Mental Health Bill As Tribute To Wellstone
I have no real problem with "mental health parity" (requiring insurance companies to pay for mental healthcare, like it was any other kind of treatment), because unless you cling to outdated and inhumane notions about mental illness, there is no reason on Earth to treat it any differently than any other kind of disease. The only problem with this bill is that as far as I knowm, it is an unfunded mandate and therefore will not do much to improve healthcare in this country. Insurance companies are going to have to raise premiums or cut other services in order to make mental healthcare coverage equal regular coverage, so its not like people will be much better. While the bill isn't great policy, it is good politics, though. Who doesn't want to take on the greedy insurance companies in the name of the little guy and make their opponents look like stooges for big business?

O'Reilly Busts Out.

Here is the interview in which O'Reilly explodes at the son of a man who died on Sept. 11 telling him to shut up and eventually cut his mike.

Joe Lieberman is Still an Idiot/Missile Defense Nonsense.

As David Cross, the comedian, said "The Missile Defense Shield, simply, is a web, made of magic, held in place by pixies wearing kevlar." Essentially thats what the $100 BILLION (a very subjective number because no one knows how much it will cost. Compare it to this; how much would it cost to truly make a magic trick happen.) boondoggle is hoping to do. Of course, the missile defense system will not protect us from our main threats in coming years (terrorists) but seeks to go back to the Cold War days when we knew who and where our enemy was.

Lets take a numbers based look at it.

Cost: Perhaps as much as 100$ to implement fully. Currently 30.2b has been alotted for the project.
Deployment date: Towards 2004 (hmmm isn't there an election going on then? Must be a coincidence) Originally slated for 2006, but if he doesn't get a second term then there's no point.
Accuracy: Has tested around 50% accurate.
Stipulations to accuracy: Well, it can't be during inclement weather, has to be fired immediatly and intercept target very soon after launch, and there cannot be more than 2 decoys accompanying the target.

Since terrorists don't have ICBMs, let alone decoys and ICBMs, what is this magic net going to protect us from, Great Leader? Apparently from "Hostile states" and "Rogue nations." But wait, don't only Russia and China have enough NUKYOOOLAR weapons to threaten us? Its not aimed at them, he says, but rather to counter such threats as North Korea, North Korea, and perhaps even North Korea. Problem is, N Korea only has maybe a few nukes, its missiles can barely reach Japan, and why in hell would the decide its prudent to strike the United States which has THOUSANDS of ICBMs, subs with nukes patrolling the seas in the Pacific and the concept of Assured destruction? As a North Korea expert, there is no way that Kim Jung, as insane as he is, would even risk thinking about attacking the United States. Bush has also said that it is to protect the US against chemical, biological and NUKYOOOOLAR threats from TERRORISTS.

Note to George II: TERRORISTS DON'T HAVE INTERCONTINENTAL BALLISTIC MISSILES CAPABLE OF STRIKING THE UNITED STATES, NOR DO THEY HAVE NUKYOOOOLAR BOMBS. If a terrorist group wanted to attack the United States, they would not take the 50% chance of success with their ICBMs, IF THEY HAD ANY. They would go with a sure deal by parking a truck outside the White House with a nuclear weapon in it, WHICH THEY DON'T HAVE. Same goes for a "Rogue Nation." What "Rogue Nation" is that much of a threat to the United States that Georgie feels that we must spend tens of billions of dollars to protect ourselves? Well, as for the Axis of Evil, Iraq we took out, and they didn't have any weapons of mass destruction, save a moldy jar of mayo in someones basement. Iran? They just agreed to inspections of their facilities and their government is becoming increasingly moderate. North Korea? They pose the most real threat of the fake threat of being targeted by one of their non-existant ICBMs.

What about the 3 nations that were added to the Axis of Evil? Cuba- According to John Bolton, the top dog liar for the US foreign policy team has this to say "Cuba) has at least a limited offensive biological warfare research and development effort (and has) provided dual-use technology to other rogue states." Considering that he is a complete liar, that the speech was given to a right wing think tank so he probably over-emphasized the threat, saying that Cuba has a limited offensive biological warfare research and development program probably means that the terribly poor country can barely even try to develop anything in its labs. Since Cuba doesn't have any real missile silos or any real reason to attack the US in such a way that would assure a most swift and violent reprisal, then why are we worried about them? Lybia and Syria are countries that do not have nukyooolar weapons or even programs that would be a threat to us, nor would they risk an attack, nor do they have the delivery vehicles to pose a threat to the US mainland, why is the government going to be spending tens of billions of dollars on a national missle defense system?

Because it is the Republican Party's dream to destroy any vestiges of the so-called "welfare state" in the United States. What does this mean? This means that they want to provide the least amount of social services to the least amount of people in the country because they are ideologically opposed to it. Remember the surplus that we had after Clinton left office but disappeared? Guess what Bush said of its disappearence "Incredibly good news." That is their tactic to destroy the government's ability to help people; starve it. I'm not being partisan when I say that they are trying to make the government not be able to help people. They want that part of the government to die a painful death, while parts such as defense and the fostering of the police state. Know how the economy is in dire straits? TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH! But wait, didn't Ronald Reagan do the same thing in the 80s only to produce massive defecits? Isn't George Bush doing the same thing now?

Oh yeah, and Joe Lieberman is still an idiot because he was one of the first Dems to sign on to Bush's ridiculous "National Missile Defense" bill.

Christopher Hitchens is a F-ing Asshole.

What would you say if you heard someone criticizing Mother Theresa? You would probably consider them to be a complete, and utter, asshole. Christopher Hitchens of "Trials of Henry Kissinger" fame in a recent piece on Slate.com went so far as to call Mother Theresa a "fanatic, fundamentalist, and a fraud." As much as I hate religion and the Catholic Church with all of its nonsense, Christopher Hitchens is a disgusting, depraved individual to even question the sincerity of Mother Theresa's life which was devoted entirely to taking care of the worst off people in the world. How dare he insult Mother Theresa its just beyond the pale to criticize the woman who drew so much attention to the plight of the "untouchables" in Calcutta.

So why is Mother Theresa a "fanatic, a fundamentalist, and a fraud?" Well, Hitchens doesn't actually offer any "facts" or "real quotes" because he is a bastard and a fraud and a fanatic. He says Mother Theresa is all those things because she accepted money from S&L junk bond king Charles Keating. Damn her for taking tainted money and building hospitals for the poorest people in the world! There is certainly a special place in hell for her! In 1994, Hitchens wrote a 100 page phamplet disrespectfully titled "The Missionary Position: Mother Theresa in Theory and Practice."

However, Mother Theresa should not be canonized (made a saint.) Supposedly, Pope John Paull II in a letter said that he wanted her to be canonized during his life (perhaps to get some glory for it). Another reason that she shouldn't be canonized is that to be made a saint, you need to have performed a "miracle." Besides being in the same league as the Easter Bunny and compassionate conservatives, miracles are a huge steaming pile of... Mother Theresa's "miracle" is a steaming pile as high as Everest. Supposedly, some woman had a picture of Mother Theresa and a bright light came out of it and healed her of cancer. Hmmm sounds good to me! If you are prone to religion and bullshit like miracles, then consider that a doctor who was treating her for the tumor had said that it disappeared over time due to the various treatments she was on.

Here is a link to Wikipedia Encyclopedia who has a list of allegations against Mother Theresa:

Judicial Nominees.

The Right is raising hell over the Democratic opposition of "Justice" Janice Rogers Brown, Bush's latest extremist juge brought before the Judiciary Committee. They are saying that the Left doesn't want Brown to be nominated because she is a conservative black woman, which is the same argument Republicans used for another extremist, Miguel Estrada who eventually had to resind his bid after many people and groups opposed his nomination and a Democrat fillibuster. There is almost nothing more ridiculous than the Right accusing the Left of being racist, yet its becoming a common practice.

The opposition to Justice Brown is not unfounded. Aside from getting a qualified, but not reccommended rating from the American Bar Association, which means that she should not be appointed to the SECOND HIGHEST COURT IN THE LAND and widely considered a stepping stone to the Supreme Court, she is being opposed by the following major coalitions:
-the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights
-the Alliance for Justice
-AFL-CIO
-Alliance for Retired Americans
-Americans for Democratic Action
-Feminist Majority
-NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund
-NARAL Pro-Choice America
-National Bar Association
-National Council of Jewish Women
-National Organization for Women
-National Senior Citizens Law Center
-National Women's Law Center
-Natural Resources Defense Council
-Planned Parenthood
-Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice
-the Sierra Club

Not exactly a few left wing nuts, these are major organizations with substantial numbers. These groups pretty much encompass all the issues out there, and because they oppose her, she is a danger to a lot of things including womens rights, the environment, senior citizens, affirmative action and others. On top of all this, according to a 42 page report published by the People for the American Way and the NAACP (http://www.pfaw.org/pfaw/general/default.aspx?oid=12566) Brown was declared "unqualified" by the Californian bar association in 1996 because she was inexperienced, prone to inserting conservative personal opinions into decisions, and that she was "insensitive to precedent." Considering that this country's common law system and reliance on precedent for deciding cases, Brown is not a judge, but rather just a ideologue who cares nothing about the law, only for propogating her views into law.

Besides opposing affirmative action, women's rights to choose, espousing extremist states rights and the whole stupid "rugged individualism," this rube had the audacity to refer to the Supreme Court's upholding of FDR's "New Deal" as "The triumph of our socialist revolution." Considering the success of the New Deal and the bipartisan support of it nowadays, her opinions are considerably out of the mainstream and very paranoid/conspiracy oriented. Refering to a discredited case in 1905 (Lochner V. New York) in which the court struck down the rights of workers, Brown called the dissenting justice's position (the one defending the workers rights) as "Simply wrong."

Just as there are so-called "Self-hating Jews," Justice Brown appears to be a self-hating black. Her vicious opposition to affirmative action, a case in which she said that racist speech which had reached the level of racial harassment and racial discrimination in the workplace was A-OK with her, because the First Amendment allowed free speech. Apparently, Brown had forgotten all the cases in which that sort of discrimination had been outlawed. Remember the Civil Rights movement Janice?

The disturbing trend that the Judiciary Committee is that Bush has been nominating super far right wing judges to be appointed to various federal courts. Pickering, Estrada, and Brown among others do not share what most Americans consider to be normal views. These people, if appointed, will dangerously alter the United States laws and will throw us back into the Dark Ages.

Look at me, I am a Maaaaaverick!

Lieberman Would Tap McCain if Elected

McCain heard the exchange on his car radio and laughed.

It seems that Lieberman just use McCain's name in a desperate effort to associate himself with the nationally popular senator. This pathetic maneuver to get attention shows how worried Joe Lieberman is getting, it is also a really bad idea. Saying you'll appoint a Republican is to a cabinent posistion is not the best way to woo democratic primary voters and as I said before it is transparent attempt to ride on the popularity of McCain which makes Lieberman look like the geek that always carried the cool kid's book bag; Once you show you have no dignity, people are bound to respect you.

National suicide: a march for illegal aliens in Riverside, Calif.

That picture and caption are straight off of Newmax.com. While there is nothing overtly bigoted about them, it is still suspicious. "National Suicide" sounds a lot like "racial suicide", the phrase used by bigots during the early 20th century who were concerned with being submerged by rising non-white populations. Also, we should consider why immigration is "national suicide". The United States has one of the most dynamic economies in the world with a proven track record of providing jobs for new arrivals. America was able to absorb successive waves of immigrants who spoke different languages and had different cultures in the past; so, what's the difference between the poor European immigrants of yesteryear and immigration from the third world today? The most obvious difference is race and though newsmax doesn't mentions it in its articles, that seems to be the implicit subtext of everything on that site written about immigration.

The Year of the Rat

Sweet merciful Oliver North! Those America hating Democrats are out to destroy this country. It appears that Comrade Clinton's pentagon is giving Boeing a sattelite contract even though it is officially on the Defense Department's shit list because of its problems with industrial espionage. Why don't these people get it? They are undermining the national security of America! If China takes over the planet, it will be all their fault and this major misstep will be directly responsible for the death of freedom world-wide. Are they retarded or just disloyal traitors trying to advance international communism?

Oh wait, its Rumsfeld is doing this...never mind...

Not That I Don't, But CONservatives Have a Awful Knack for Dumbing Things Down to the Lowest Common Denominator.

Part 3 of a 150,000 part series on why conservatives are idiots.

As part of my heart-unhealthy diet, I try to read neocon trash that makes me mad because I am a sad, sad man. Anyhow, Newsmax.com, the conservative "news" website always has awesome editorials by the lunatic fringe that is today's Republican party. Case in point, Joan Swirsky (who you can torment, I mean, converse with by Joansharon@aol.com) has a very interesting theory on the "psychology of liberals."

She starts off her insane tirade by setting the mood. She spins a story of a child who is beaten up in the playground by the school bully, poor dear. Then she says you (the reader) call the parents to suggest that they call the principal to discipline the bully. The story ends when Joan says "But to your astonishment, the parents are not mad at the bully!" Actually, I must post this story because its so so bad. Here it is in its entirety...

A bully beats up your friend’s child in the schoolyard. You feel terrible for the kid who got the black eye and call his parents to encourage them to give their kid lessons in self-defense and insist that the principal punish the offender. But to your astonishment, the parents are not mad at the bully!
They actually seem to feel more empathy with him than they do with their own child. “He shouldn’t be punished,” they say. “You have to ask yourself what made him do it? Besides, if the principal punishes him, it might make him more angry!”
This is the thinking of liberals, particularly “bleeding heart” liberals whose identification with and empathy for the doers of bad deeds is a hopeless muddle of self-congratulatory “understanding” and hatred of authority.

Wow. I hope you enjoyed that as much as I did. It is so wonderful that the entire mindset of a group of people across the globe numbering in, oh I don't know, probably more than a billion, can be described in such unambiguous terms! Surely, with a mental prowess such as this, Joan must be a laureate or something. Unfortunately (or if youre feeling masochistic, fortunately) the editorial doesn't end there. No, it continues on for 7 PAGES. The saga continues...

In a thinly veiled and terrible attempt to discredit Sigmund Freud, Joan says that before Freud was around, society produced such greats as Jesus, Pavlova (a ballerina?! What did a ballerina give to the world??), Duse (who the hell is Duse? I googled it up and its some woman actress, again, I may be wrong, but she isn't in the same league as Jesus), Maimonides (guys: you may remember this guy as the one who mastered the art of circumcision) and some others. Then again, the fact that she named a circumcision wizard, a ballerina and an actress doesn't matter when you realize that the people who she's marketing this garbage to are imbeciles who want to be told what to think.

Joan's next theory is that liberals, "no matter how educated or affluent or intelligent or well intentioned they are – are, at heart, the kids who were bullied or whose parents were bullied by life or by history. Truly insightful. She goes on to say that liberals also largely ignored LBJs war on poverty in order to have "cocktail parties" with "Rap Brown and Stokely Carmichael" in order to further their blame America first cause. She goes on to say that "Old Liberals" are different from "New Liberals" because new liberals were "too stoned to contemplate" anything besides drugs and some influential 60s characters that she names. Once again, her brilliance in simplifying millions of peoples of lives shines through.

What makes a person be a "liberal?" Well, you guessed it, she has a theory on that as well, couched in basic psychological words that we all have heard of but maybe don't understand. Liberals are the result of 2 MENTAL DISORDERS. Yes, all liberals are mentally ill. They suffer from "narcisissm and borderline personality disorder." See, in order to make her BS claims sound more scientific, she adds a totally useless word (borderline). Its not full fledged personality disorder, its only borderline. Here's another quote: "the afflicted are totally unable to tolerate the gray complexion of either life or of politics, always casting those who disagree with them in stark shades of black and white and often resorting to defamatory “scorched earth” strategies. These are people who struggle to hide the fact that they have no consciences, no remorse and no feelings. In fact, they appear disconcertingly similar, and at times identical, to sociopaths. Sound familiar? Why yes, yes it does Joan, it sounds just like President Bush. What makes this even funnier is that she says throughout this screed that liberals are quick to say that crimals all have "mental disorders" when they don't and that liberals can't distinguish between different things while she is mercilessly attacking a group of people without any sort of fair and balanced look at things.

"Liberals hate facts." Thats a pretty incindary comment there Joan, what evidence do you have to support you thesis? "For eight long years in the 1990s, President “I feel your pain” Clinton could not find it within his power to pass a law to provide senior citizens with prescription drug relief." But you may remember Joan, because I wasn't into politics in the 4th grade, that his efforts were thwarted by a REPUBLICAN House and Senate. "Nor could he do anything better than cut and run from Somalia, bomb an aspirin factory, and wage an air war against people who were no threat to the United States, effectively setting the stage for the devastation of Sept. 11." Wow thats a harsh condemnation of the Clinton adminsitration. But, you may have heard that the air war that he waged against a people who were no threat to the United States, well, we fought the war in the Balkans because of a merciless dictator who showed no desire to listen to the worlds pleas. That sounds a lot like what is going on in Iraq. Oh, damn facts! Effectively setting the stage for the devastation of Sept. 11th? Again, a big allegation. You may have seen the recent press that Pres. Clinton said to the incoming Gov. Bush that Osama Bin Laden was the biggest threat to the United States, only to be brushed off and told that Saddam Hussein was the biggest threat. Yes, facts are troublesome.

Well, Joan, what do you think could solve the mental illness that is "liberalism?" "My background in psychotherapy came by way of being a registered nurse, providing hands-on care to people in their most difficult hours. It is my suggestion that all liberals go back to school and become RNs. Instead of pretending that they care for “the masses” that they have utterly failed, they will then be able to put their best instincts into action with “real live” people in need." I see, so half of the United States should drop what they are doing, "Go back to school" (I have no idea what she is trying to imply here) and become Registered Nurses. Sounds good to me! Leave it to a Republican to figure out the best way to solve a problem.

Its got to hurt that a snide teenager totally demolished a 7 page paper by an adult with only Encarta Online, Google, and a half hour to spare.

Here we go again

Senate passes 'partial birth' abortion ban

The House already passed it, and there is no doubt W will put his name on it soon enough. As you might imagine, pro-choice groups are ready to challenge the law as soon as Bush finishes the 'h'. The courts have thrown out similar laws in the past, but largely because of ambiguities. Is this law different enough? Conservatives seem to think so.

Building on Tom’s point, this is definitely a prime example of a conservative bill trampling all over states’ rights. Let’s limit the federal government by. . . having it tell people what to do in their private lives! Brilliant. Must be one of those trickle downs. . .

FMA: Grasping at Straws?

As time goes on, naturally things progress and usually get better. People are arguably more enlightened than say 100 years ago (though this administration would like to stop that.) People, especially minorities (not just racial minorities), have more rights than before and they are getting more all the time. Unfortunately, conservatives (who want to conserve or regess) do not like this policy and want to go back to the heady days of white male landowners being in charge. That is a pithy swipe, but its true, and its evident in the desire to pass the FMA, or Federal Marriage Amendment, which aims to limit marriage to only unions between a man and a woman. They are trying to hold back societal progress; putting their finger in the dike, to use a very appropriate aphorism. They want to end the trend of recognizing civil unions between same sex partners. This once again illustrates my contention that conservatives are liars about their support of states rights.
The big question is why: Why do they want to end the practice of letting homosexuals marrying each other? The obvious reason is that conservatives do not support gay rights because according to conservative dogma, homosexuality is an aberration, unnatural and odious. However, they cannot use that as their public reason to oppose it; they can only use it when preaching to the choir. The Alliance for Marriage, a conservative group has been trying to get the FMA signed into law for a while. They made some headway during the Clinton administration (gasp!) with the Defense of Marriage Act. However, it was not enough. They want the whole thing. The FMA is a very short bill that states the following:
Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution or the constitution of any State, nor state or federal law, shall be construed to require that marital status or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon unmarried couples or groups.
Ok, that’s all well and good (well its not, but I'm on a roll,) but what are the concrete reasons as to why allowing marriage between a man and a man or a woman and a woman or she male and she male and all points in between would be a bad thing? According to the Alliance for Marriage website, the reasons against such unions are many. Just as George II puts Iraq, Al Queda and 9/11 in the same sentence ever time he speaks to reiterate their ties (well, there aren't any, but he wants us to think so,) the Alliance for Marriage puts words such as violent crime, welfare dependency, divorce and childless fathers in its explanation of why America is in dire straits and gay marriages should be opposed. All of America's problems, according to the Alliance for Marriage, can be blamed upon "the disintegration of the family" unit, and gay marriage would only exacerbate the disintegration of the family unit, according to the Alliance. As a brief aside, wouldn't letting more people marry increase the number of families and people caring for children?
So then, who is to blame for all this anti-family rhetoric and lobbying? Well, they give no one main adversary, but blame many stealthy bugaboos, especially the ominous "courts." All this is occurring outside "the democratic progress and against the will of the American people" (quote from their website.) I have to hand it to the Alliance once again; they are very good at what they do. It is against the will of the American people. They are great at making this seem like an attack on all that is American and thus steeling the will of its members. The group employs the word America a lot in their reasons as to why this act should be supported. They also say that this act should be passed because people coming into the country could have come from a country that recognizes and grants same-sex marriages and therefore the "DOMA offers no protection against the potential for legal recognition of foreign same-sex marriages involving US citizens by American courts. More protection is required to keep the American people in charge of the definition of marriage in the United States." Look out; the foreigners are coming to subvert American moral standards!
The Alliance for Marriage also knows their supporters well. They make blatantly contradictory statements which are only noticeable to the enlightened like you and I. For example they call what the evil courts are doing "the subverting of democracy and undermining of marriage at a state level." This is obviously absurd. The people of Vermont and other states wanted the recognition of civil unions, so therefore they lobbied for it and got what they wanted. If that is not democracy in action, then I do not know what is. Another tactic used by this group is to use grandiose language and concepts that we all have heard of, but probably know nothing about. For example, they invoke such elements of the Constitution as the Free Exercise clause and the Full Faith and Credit clauses to confuse readers who probably do not know the first four amendments.
Lastly, and admittedly weakly, why support this amendment to the Constitution on the grounds that the other Amendments are so important? How can one compare the right to a fair and speedy trial, the right to free speech, and other important amendments that increase people’s rights, to one that is supported by an angry hateful group that wants to limit people’s freedoms? That’s not the spirit of America, and by invoking the very word America and its storied past in order to make gains in a sick, political stunt, just goes to show the depravity of these individuals.
One last note. The Alliance for Marriage is now touting the support of a "multi-cultural" group led by Rev. Fauntroy, a man who walked to Washington with Martin Luther King. He and the group should be embarrassed that they are invoking the name of a man who worked and died for his belief that all men are created equal, and that they are only bringing up his name as some sick way to show that somehow this is a valid effort on their part.

Judge raps ruling in Eminem case

Perhaps not. Maybe Eminem is popular in her district and she just wants to keep the gig she has now. Its so hard to tell why judges write rap songs these days.

Is Clark Arrogant? Third Hand Information Suggests So

The New Republic Primary has pointed out that Wesley Clark responded to charges that he was aloof and arrogant by remarking:

"How do you think I could have succeeded in the military if everybody didn't like me? It's impossible," he said. "Do you realize I was the first person promoted to full colonel in my entire year group of 2,000 officers? I was the only one selected. Do you realize that? . . . Do you realize I was the only one of my West Point class picked to command a brigade when I was picked? . . . I was the first person picked for brigadier general. You have to balance this out. . . . A lot of people love me."

Why didn't he just say "I am the most humble man ever, I totally won the humble prize for 5 years in a row and the nobel committee is considering giving me an award for my humility. Oh, did I mention I was really humble?"

Why Limit the Trickle Down Theory to Only Economics??

You have to hand it to the Bush administration, they are skilled satirists. For example, George II's "Clear Skies" initiative, actually increases the amount of pollutants that companies can release into the air. No Child Left Behind Act? Yup, it does the exact opposite. They do this all the time, in everything that they do, its sort of an Orwellian doublespeak. And its double plus bad. But what has really got the cogs in my head turning is the Bush admins decision to ease restrictions on the hunting, killing, and capturing of endangered species, because it actually will increase the number of endangered species. You don't follow? What the hell is wrong with you? Here, I will let the WaPo explain it to you then.

U.S. May Expand Access To Endangered Species

By Shankar Vedantam

The Bush administration is proposing far-reaching changes to conservation policies that would allow hunters, circuses and the pet industry to kill, capture and import animals on the brink of extinction in other countries.

Giving Americans access to endangered animals, officials said, would feed the gigantic U.S. demand for live animals, skins, parts and trophies, and generate profits that would allow poor nations to pay for conservation of the remaining animals and their habitat.
--------------------------------------------------
Too reserved for you? Here is an explanation by Democratic Underground.
So apparently the Bush administration has decided that it's time to ease restrictions on the killing, capturing and importing of endangered species. And why would they want to do this? The answer, to anyone who's been following the antics of the Bush administration over the last couple of years, should be quite familiar - they believe that killing and capturing endangered species is the best way to protect them. Isn't it obvious? Here's how it works: part of the money spent by U.S. zoos and circuses to import endangered animals would be simply be funneled back to the animals' country of origin to support conservation projects. Clever, huh? The more endangered animals we import, the more money goes overseas to help protect them. In fact, if you think about it, the more animals we remove from their natural habitat, the more money will go back into their conservation, and the more animals there will be to capture or hunt! It's brilliant! Reopen the ivory trade - soon there will be wild elephants teeming across the Serengeti! Build more whaling ships - before long the oceans will be crammed full of whales! Put a price on Pandas' heads - and you'll have Pandas as far as the eye can see! I can't understand why nobody but the circus, zoo, pet industry, and hunting lobbies thought of this before now...

Hey Doll

The George Bush "action" figure features stars and stripes underwear. I don't understand. Its not ok to burn a flag, but it is ok to put skid marks on it. Oh well.

Its From Reuters So Its Reputable

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Former President Bill Clinton says he warned President George W. Bush before he left office in 2001 that Osama bin Laden was the biggest security threat the United States faced.

Speaking at a luncheon sponsored by the History Channel on Wednesday, Clinton said he discussed security issues with Bush in his "exit interview," a formal and often candid meeting between a sitting president and the president-elect.

"In his campaign, Bush had said he thought the biggest security issue was Iraq and a national missile defence," Clinton said. "I told him that in my opinion, the biggest security problem was Osama bin Laden."

The U.S. government has blamed bin Laden's Al Qaeda network for the September 11 attacks.

Time magazine reported last year that a plan for the United States to launch attacks against the al-Qaeda network languished for eight months because of the change in presidents and was approved only a week before the September 11 attacks.

This Should Be Read Again.

This is from the Washington Post.

President Bush paused in his Labor Day remarks about jobs and told his audience of union members, "I want you to think back to that fateful day, September the 11th, and what happened afterwards."

Usually his reminder is more subtle, but Bush is invoking the terrorist hijackings frequently as he ramps up his reelection campaign and tries to defuse the political risk posed by persistent joblessness, setbacks in Iraq and accusations that he exaggerated evidence on the road to war.

In the past six weeks, Bush has cited "9/11" or Sept. 11, 2001, in arguing for his energy policy and in response to questions about campaign fundraising, tax cuts, unemployment, the deficit, airport security, Afghanistan and the length, cost and death toll of the Iraq occupation.

Bush's aides said his persistent references to the attacks reflect his identification with them as a searing personal experience. Some analysts said he sometimes appears to depend on such references in times of trouble or uncertainty.

"Every day, I'm reminded about what 9/11 means to America," Bush said when asked in July about the $170 million budget for his primary campaign, where he has no opponent. "We're still threatened," he said, explaining that he wants to "continue doing my job, and my job will be to work to make America more secure."

Such references are not new for Bush. In April, when he was making the case for invading Iraq, he said he refused to leave the nation's enemies "free to plot another September the 11th."

The attacks sometimes even seem to overshadow the president's sense of previous history. "Prior to September the 11th, there was apparently no connection between a place like Iraq and terror," he said at a congressional retreat earlier this year. Iraq was first placed on the State Department's list of designated terrorist states in 1979 and has been there continuously since 1990.

Sept. 11, 2001, was the unquestioned turning point in Bush's presidency, silencing doubts about the disputed 2000 election, giving purpose and clarity to the administration at a time when its policies seemed muddled, and temporarily narrowing the divisions in a nation whose voters were split 50-50. More broadly, national security became the basis for Bush's soaring popularity, a cornerstone of his political strategy and a debating point for policies as far afield as farm subsidies.

Bush's poll numbers were lagging before the attack and astronomical afterward.

"It was the event that really made George W. Bush president, the wellspring of his legitimacy," said Christopher Arterton, dean of the Graduate School of Political Management at George Washington University. "He reaches back to that because it's the thing that unifies the country, and I think we're going to see more and more of it as we get closer to the political challenges that are looming from the Democratic candidates."

White House communications director Dan Bartlett said Bush "talks frequently about 9/11, but more importantly about our nation's response to 9/11, which required a significant policy change in order to prevent future 9/11's."

"It's something that will always be part of his public discourse," Bartlett said.

The White House and Bush's campaign conjure recollections of the attacks not just through his words, but also with imagery. Bush makes frequent appearances with soldiers and military hardware, and the workers he chose to visit on Labor Day were members of the union that cleared the rubble from the World Trade Center site on Manhattan.

Strategists in both parties agree that the memory of the attacks has served a powerful purpose for Bush, but the political landscape may be shifting. A spate of recent polls has shown voters becoming more concerned about the economy than about terrorism. Bush's earlier popularity for his handling of the attacks' aftermath never translated to approval for his domestic policies, and now his overall approval rating is receding.

White House officials say they are wary of appearing to use the attacks cynically. Bush plans a low-key commemoration of the second anniversary today, staying in Washington to attend a prayer service, observe a moment of silence and hold a private visit with wounded soldiers.

Democrats argue that Bush uses terrorism as a refuge when he is uncertain about an answer or in trouble on an issue. They say that in his speeches and exchanges with reporters, Bush relies on the attacks as justification for much of his foreign and domestic policy and -- perhaps most of all -- as a reason to reelect him.

Republicans chose to hold next year's national convention in Manhattan, and at an unusually late date, Aug. 30 to Sept. 2. The traditional post-convention bounce will take Bush right up to the third anniversary of the hijackings.

"A lot of Americans have been apprehensive, and through this constant talk, the Bush administration has been shameless in using 9/11 for partisan political gain," Democratic National Committee Chairman Terence R. McAuliffe said.

Sen. Jon S. Corzine (D-N.J.), chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, said Bush faces a potential backlash from trying to use "something we agree on to divert people's attention from things we don't agree on."

Some Democrats assert that the potency of Sept. 11 as a political symbol is waning -- that by next year, it may no longer bring a lump to so many throats or provide as great an impetus to hoist the flag.

Even some Republicans say Bush will need a fresher message next year. A presidential adviser said one of the crucial trials for the White House's political arm will be to avoid exploiting memories of the attacks.

However, as recently as July 24, Bush called Sept. 11 "a date I will not forget so long as I'm on this Earth."

Action Update: Religious Jackass

"George Bush was not elected by a majority of voters in the United States," Gen. Boykin told an Oregon congregation in a moment of biblical clarity five months ago. "He was appointed by God."

This is from the general who called Islam an "idolatrous religion" and in many of his rants, places Islam close to the words devil or Satan, quite like George II and his uses of "9/11" and "Iraq" very close to each other to make people think that they are the same thing. Its really sad and immature and ignorant.

Joe Lieberman is an Idiot

Joe Lieberman says its not a time for rookies.
Asked who the "rookies" are, he replied, "Well, Howard Dean has been a governor, Wes Clark is new to politics -- so that's two."

Ok, I hate Howard Dean because he's popular and if I like him, I wouldn't stand out. I mean, I don't like his policies. Same for Clark. But Lieberman is still a jackass. Here's a question for you Joe, name the president who's not from a major state and his vp was your running mate in 2000. Another one Joe, how many of the previous presidents were governors and not senators? Most of them? Oh thats interesting. I guess your idiot point is negated. Time to go put that Mossberg 8 gauge in your mouth and make the world a better place.

A Suggestion

Never mind...

Flash Mobs

I am hard pressed to find anything more pathetic than flash mobs and the people that go to them. In the press I keep reading that flash mobs are the latest craze, but I don't know a single person that goes to them (and I know a lot of fairly strange people). What on earth would make someone want to consort with strangers over the internet and plans some ridiculous group activity? Can't they think of a slightly better to do than eat marshmellows in the mall (while jumping up and down) with a hundred other losers? The whole thing is a desperate cry for attention, excuse me, a desperate collective cry for attention (which makes it so much worse). In the past a lot of things have been called signs of social decay or warnings of the imminent collapse of western civilization, but I think flash mobs alone are worthy of that title. The only fads that rival the bizzare techno-lameness of flash mobs are friendster and blogging...

But back to the point, I'd vote for any candidate for any level of government with a sufficiently severe flash mob eradication plan and a vague understanding of the principles of political economy.

Is This Ralph?

And for those who haven't given it a look yet, click here to experience lubo.

This Administration Must Have an Idiot Magnet.

On top of NOT condemning a general who called Islam an idolatrous and essentially evil religion, the name of the original war on terror code name "Infinite Justice" which is something in the Islamic relgion that only Allah can hand out (which they obviously knew), the war on terror being called a crusade once by Donald Rumsfeld (at least I think it was he who said it), on top of all that Richard Perle, one of the guys who orchestrated Gulf War II: The Return, said that the only way to get North Korea to go along with our wishes is "By force." Considering that I have a 7 (WHOLE, as of today) weeks of International Relations 105 classes in me, I know that if you are negotiating with a insane dictator who has a 13 story building called "the House of Pleasure" (guess whats in it) and NUUKYUULAR weapons, its best if you don't say, especially after you just led a pre-emptive war, to say that the only was to solve this issue is through force. In a borrowed term, this man is a certified ASSHAT.

He...appears to be a tool.

Senator Zell Miller has attacked his own party again, claiming (wrongfully) that the Democrats have moved too far to the left, neglected the South and that its candidates have little chance of beating George W. Bush. In the past, I chalked up a lot of Miller's fratracide to the fact that as a Senator from Georgia, sometimes he to distance himself from the Democrats' more liberal aspects. Now that Miller is retiring, there can't be a political motivation for his complaints unless it is to help the Republicans win.

Selling Out

This blog is beginning to attract a larger and more mainstream audience. I remember way back when I created this website I never intended to put my blood, sweat and tears into it for the enjoyment of some lame middle class pro-establishment squares. The blog use to be so much cooler when it was underground, independent, hardcore and alternative, but now its just getting aborbed by the all-consuming corporate culture. Soon the very concept of the subversive weblog will be co-opted by McDonalds. I swear, this is like Green Day (which I only listened to on LP's, the free thinker's preferred recorded media) all over again.

The Bush Bubble

Not only does the President rarely read the newspapers and admits to relying on advisors to inform him about important current events, it appears he is also protected from the trauma of having to witness people protest him and his policies. Bush is the first President under which the secret service has restricted protestors (pro-Bush spectators are not quarantined to "free-speech zones" that are sometimes several miles from the President. I don't blame the secret service, though, those prostestors are dangerous and an assassin would never think of pretending to be a Bush supporter. Not in a million years.

Bad Move

Bush Cites Philippines as Model in Rebuilding Iraq
The Phillipines probably aren't the best example of successfull American nation building. After the Spanish-American war, the United States fought a bloody counter-insurgency campaign against Fillipino nationalists that ended up killing hundres of thousands of Fillipinos and the Phillipines didn't gain independence untill after the Second World War. Having the president say that the Phillipines are our model for Iraq can't exactly be reassuring for many Iraqis.

Makes Sense

South Korea Mum on Sending Troops to Iraq
I don't know why anyone would expect South Korea to assist the US in the rebuilding of Iraq. First, South Korea have a (possibly nuclear) North Korea, a ginormous security threat right, next to them. Second, the US has tens of thousands of troops stationed on the edge of the Demilitarized Zone that seperates the the two countries. If we wanted help from South Korea (or if they wanted to help us), why not just allow the US to move some of these men to Iraq?

Franken

By the way, do you know that to become a citizen of this country, there are diffent rules for ex-communists and ex-nazis? Its true. You can't get citizenshp of you've ever been a communist. You cant get citizenship if you were a Nazi from 1939 to 1945. Its probably a good policy. I'd trust a guy who became a Nazi in 1946. You know hes not a fair weather friend.

If I were in charge of the media…

I frankly wouldn’t know how/how much to emphasize the continuing deaths in Iraq. Each addition to the tally is another human life that was taken for a war that may very well accomplish nothing worthwhile.

There were plenty of valid reasons for going to war; there were also plenty of reasons for working with the UN. Not wanting or expecting us to consider the whole picture, the Bush administration lied to the people in order to oversimplify the situation and allay fears. I would want to make to emphasize the difficulties that we are facing, because we did not consider them enough before hand. We need to realize the price we are paying, and the price the Iraqi people are paying, for a change of government.

At the same time, now that we have decided to pay that price, we must make sure to get what we paid for. We must stay in Iraq, or the region will inevitably slip backwards. I would not want to emphasize the problems too much, for fear that the American populace might react by calling for a withdrawal of troops. That would be a major mistake. Such a dilemma.

Good thing I’m not in charge of the media, yet.

Confounded Scientists

Apparently some scientists have gotten together and tested the healing ability of prayer. Prayer didn’t do so well. Good thing the Rt Rev Tom Wright pointed out that the bible tells us not to test God. If some book a bunch of people wrote about God says not to question him, there must be nothing to question.

Religious JACKASS Confirms Muslims Fears That We Are Fighting a Crusade.

Lt. Gen. William G. Boykin, whose promotion and appointment was confirmed by the Senate in June, has said publicly that he sees the war on terrorism as a clash between Judeo-Christian values and Satan, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.
...
Appearing in dress uniform before a religious group in Oregon in June, Boykin said Islamic extremists hate the United States "because we're a Christian nation, because our foundation and our roots are Judeo-Christians. ... And the enemy is a guy named Satan."
...
Discussing a U.S. Army battle against a Muslim warlord in Somalia in 1993, Boykin told one audience, "I knew my god was bigger than his. I knew that my god was a real god and his was an idol."

Wow what an asshat. I knew my god was bigger than his. I hope this guy gets shot in the back by a terrorist. Unbelievable.

What is really important

EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH THE GAME OF THE CENTURY TONIGHT
Pedro versus Clemens, on fox, at 8... even if you don't like baseball, watch this game...

Little Girl Allowed to Wear Hadjib in School / Supreme Court Taking Up Pledge Case

A 6th grade Muslim girl in Oklahoma (poor thing what an awful place to live) was allowed by a court of appeals to wear the traditional headress for Muslim women. Apparently, after wearing it for many weeks, on Sept. 11 she was brought to the principals office and told she could no longer wear it. At first I just thought they were doing it because of intolerance or whatever, but thinking on it now, I think that they might have done it in order to protect her from the dregs of Oklahoma citizens. I was hoping that wasn't the case so that I could get really mad. Oh well.

The Supreme Court added the case from the 9th circuit court of appeals in which a man sued his daughters school because she had to say the "Under God" part of the pledge. There is talk that Scalia, the biggest scumbag of the court after Thomas, might just sit this one out which will probably lead to a 4-4 deadlock, which, according to the Supreme Court's rules, means that the 9th circuit decision will stand. This one is going to be a lot of fun to watch. Conservatives are going to be bright red in the face over something that was added in the 50s in a jingoistic response to those godless commie pinkos. I really hope that the court makes it unconstitutional not necessairly because I support the government not having any ties to religion, but because its going to make conservatives so angry. This may backfire on me because they might make the decision into a rallying cry to all the militiamen hiding out in the woods to vote. Hopefully not.

Outrage Indeed!

I for one am appalled at this Natey B's behavior. Am I the only one who remembers one of his campaign promises to "Change the Tonein Blogsville" and that he was an "outsider." Outrage indeed. He promised to stay out of other people's business. But look at him now! Trying to leigislate his morality on all of us. Why, if he continues to blog, and is still blogging in 2004, I may just move to Canada.

Limbaugh is a Martyr
Modern day Martin Luther King and radio personality Rush Limbaugh is being crucified by the PC Gestapo, the Liberal Media and the Civil Rights establishment. What a sad day when so called defenders of civil liberties turn on the best friend of the first amendment. Truly, freedom has had no greater friend than our christ-like friend, El Rusho.

Godless China To Invade the Heavens!
The awful atheist communist of China are about the befoul God's home with their infernal space program. Cleary, it is time the United States sink hundreds of billions of dollars into an unnecessary and unworkable missile defense scheme as soon as possible. Not only will the militarization prevent further Red aggression in space, but it would also play a vital role in the war on terror. If another 9-11 were to happen, national missile defense would be able to...well, that's not important. The important thing is that the Saddamite Democrats in congress be crushed, the pockets of defense contractors runneth over and our favored place at the right hand of the father be protected.

NEWSMAX IS NOT REAL

Today in the library I observed a fellow student reading NewsMax. When I asked him why he read it over more reputable news sources, he replied that they were not conservative enough. I then suggested that perhaps he should look to fox news for hard hitting, fiercely independent and 100% objective coverage that wouldn't challenge any of his prejudices. This student declined, saying that Fox News wasn't conservative. Well, it maybe a suprise to this student, but NEWSMAX ISN'T NEWS! It is a bunch of conservative hacks supported by ads for viagra supplements and pyramid schemes who churn out right wing propaganda for your enjoyment. Newsmax is as about as professional as this weblog, actually in many ways its worse, because it lacks such luminaries as Thomas Taxter and North Outlandishamn. Just as you wouldn't trust us as a source of real news, you shouldn't trust some no name site that tries to sell you secret medical research that proves cigarrette smoking is good for you or that the medical mainstream is controlled by Hillary Clinton. Also, if a media outlet retells such hackneyed crypto-racist garbage as the imminent threat posed to America by an emerging non-white majority, it should under no circumstances be your main source of news and in fact you should probably not read it at all. If however, you use an organization like NewsMax as your window on the world, I think you automatically surender all your rights as a citizen and human and should have your brain pickled for the benefit of medical students, because clearly you were not using it anyway.

Supreme Court Says No to Bush Admin. Appeal to Punish Doctors Who Talk to Patients About Medicinal Marijuana

As I write this, I am taking great pleasure in gloating over the Bush admins. loss on this issue. The Republican party line of today is all about states rights (which actually means that states, and not the federal government, will be the ones taking kickbacks and whatnot for letting industries destroy nature so that Washington doesn't have its fingerprints on it), except when it comes to their pet causes. So its fine for a school to let a kid wear a Confederate teeshirt, because, hey you can't legislate morality, and it happens to be what that area wants. A woman wants an abortion?! Hell no, its not her choice, not in this country (it wont be her choice soon.) You want to discuss using marijuana as a pain killer to man with terminal and painful cancer? You bastard. I don't know where this is going but I have something else to add. While I may agree sometimes with the decrim. people, I happen to believe that they are wrong in saying that pot is not a gateway drug. Take me for example. Wait, don't, I want to go to Harvard Law. Take "my friend" for example, take "all my friends" for example. The majority that smoke pot go on to try other things, sure there are a few who say that they are not going to try anything else, but then they think, hey shrooms are natural dooooood so they can't be bad. Pot is a gateway drug. It does not, however, lead to raping a girl after you smoke up; thats coke or pcp you are thinking of. I suppose I need to have some semblence of order in this wreck of a post so Im just going to end it now.

Sympathy for Lieberman

Lieberman Proposes Tax Hike for Wealthy

He doesn't just want to repeal the Bush tax cut, he wants to effectively raises tax rates on the rich to levels higher than they were during the Clinton years. This maybe not the best move politically, but it is excellent policy. Not only would Lieberman's plan raise taxes on the rich, it would also cut them for the poor and middle class, signifcantly increasing the progressivty of the income tax. I'm rather suprised that it was Lieberman who took up the soak the rich banner after Graham bowed out, but I guess stranger things have happened.

Dean Beats Edwards, Once.

I rarely agree with Howard Dean over John Edwards, but today is one of those days. Edwards has said he will vote no on the $87 billion bill to fund the occupation and reconstruction of Iraq, while Dean proposed paying for the measure by repleaing parts of the Bush income tax cut. I think Edwards' move is bad on two counts, in the first place it makes it look like he is wavering in his support for the war (he voted for the use of force resoluton), so he can be tarred as a waffler and be attacked for not SUPPORTING THE TROOPS. Dean's posistion on the other hand is pretty clever, becuase he can make the charge that the administration is more concerned with tax cuts for the wealthy than national security.

Strange

Towards the end of his lengthy rant about the the undeserved success of Quentin Tarantino, Greg Easterbook wrote something that was more than a little bizzare:

Disney's CEO, Michael Eisner, is Jewish; the chief of Miramax, Harvey Weinstein, is Jewish. Yes, there are plenty of Christian and other Hollywood executives who worship money above all else, promoting for profit the adulation of violence. Does that make it right for Jewish executives to worship money above all else, by promoting for profit the adulation of violence? Recent European history alone ought to cause Jewish executives to experience second thoughts about glorifying the killing of the helpless as a fun lifestyle choice.

I'm not going to say Easterbrook was being anti-semetic, but there was virtually no segeway into this part of his post. Easterbrook's comments also seem vaguely threatening. Weirder still is that this comes on the heels of his ""NO" DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN NO" post on the Kobe Bryant case.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Texas Senate Approves Redistricting Plan

First the Republicans win the recall and now this. Every democratic state legislature in the country should gerrymander as many Republican districts out of existence as possible in response to this awful GOP power grab.

Pander Bear on the Loose!

Bush Promises Tighter Embargo of Cuba

It is unbelievable how cynically Bush is appealing to ultra-conservative, borderline crazy cuban exiles in Florida. Even the AP notes it, in the very first lines of the article no less:

Hoping to make amends with a key political constituency, President Bush said the United States would tighten enforcement of its embargo on Cuba and provide a haven to more fleeing Cubans while planning for the day when Fidel Castro's rule comes to an end.

So, the absurd policy of punishing Cuba and rewarding and strengthening neo-imeprial China (which has a much worse human rights record and poses a much greater security risk to the United States) will into the future, so that Karl Rove will have loyal foot soldiers for the next Florida recount.

Tooling Around At The Weekly Standard

Stepehn F. Hayes at the Weekly Standards is still pushing the Iraq-9-11 connection. In his latest column, he maintains that Dick Cheney was completely right when he went on "Meet the Press" and said that "We don't know" about Saddam and 9-11. While in of itself, the statement "We don't know" is truthful, it is cleary part of the Administration's constant and baseless innuedo about a connection between Iraq and the September 11th attacks exists. Cheney's choice of words was misleading, because it implies that there is a reasonable chance that Saddam was involved, when in fact there is no evidence to support such a claim. So in that sense, Cheney was wrong, especially in light of the White House's previous efforts to imply (though never explicitly stating) that Iraq was behind 9-11.

What's In a Name?

Political Aims speculates that Edwards' low poll numbers are due to people confusing with the television pyschic John Edward. I'm actually inclined to believe this theory. Edwards hasn't been in the senate very long and has had very little national exposure, he's not a not household name by any strech of the imagination, so it is entirely possible that people are hesitant to back him because they think he's some clownish montebank (15 Pomposity Points!). As a matter of fact, one of my friends once remarked "John Edward, you mean the biggest douche in the universe?", alluding (12.5!) to a South Park episode that savaged the TV telepathist. Political Aims recommends that Edwards change his name to "Bill Clinton" to solve the problem, personally, I think it would be best if Edwards just got himself a lot of media attention by doing something bold/stupid. Perhaps it is time he challenge Dean to a fist fight.

North's Favorite Board Game

Incivility! Incivility! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Recently anti-tax activitst Grover Norquist compared supporters of progressive taxation (which I estimate to be 2/3 to 3/4 of the country) to Nazis:

The argument that some who play to the politics of hate and envy and class division will say is, "Well, that's only 2 percent -- or, as people get richer, 5 percent, in the near future -- of Americans likely to have to pay [the estate tax]." I mean, that's the morality of the Holocaustt: "Oh, it's only a small percentage. It's not you; it's somebody else."

I'm sure the always fair and balanced David Brooks will give him a stern talking to about intemperate political discourse.

Qorei Submits Resignation; No One Sure Whether or Not He Will Actually Leave.

Ahmed Quraya (one of the many interpretations of the way his name is spelled) supposedly has submitted his resignation to Arafat after a parliment session during which Quraya was supposed to outline his plan of government was "postponed indefinatly" by a bunch of MPs. This, of course, is after Arafat had declared a state of emergency after the bombing in Israel in which 19 people died after ... to infinity. Quraya took the place of Abu Mazen, the last new prime minister quit after he couldn't get anything done because Arafat wanted to keep all his power. Quraya had been the de facto PM for only 2 days.
Oh well, I guess I was wrong about him. I really thought that he was going to bring peace to the region. Haha.

Apparently, Brian Wasn't Watching "Capital Gang" Last Night at Midnight.

Otherwise, he would have known that a Democrat is sponsoring the bill. One wonders, why does Mr. Pugh hate America so much?
The same thing can be said about the pandering element for the Dem. Pat Buchannan was on saying why the bill was bad, as in, he doesn't like non-white people, oops, I mean, he's "proud of his heritage." God forbid that Arnold became president, I might have to leave the country and move to Canada, the land of milk and honey. Nevertheless, the Dem that is sponsoring the bill had a good argument; why shouldn't people who have been in the country for 35 years be allowed to be president, as they probably appreciate this country more than most native-born Americans. This decision is ridicuously tough to decide. Then again, so was letting a Catholic (and Irish. yay!) from becoming president so that he could give all the power in the world to the Vatican and the damned Pope! Well, this didn't happen, and if an immigrant president in the future did so, we have that wonderful tool (and I specificly chose that word) to recall the president. But you should all believe me, because my college education is now 6 WHOLE weeks old.

Is Nativism Always Bad?

Orrin Hatch has propsed amending the constitution so that naturalized citizens can run for President. While in principle I support a more open immigration policy and removing unfair barriers to office, I'm not exactly comfortable with Hatch's idea. In the first place, it is purely political, a direct byproduct of Arnold's victory in the recall race and is probably meant to give him a chance to run for President in 2008. When you think about it, any provision that prevents both Schwarzenegger and the prince of darkness...er... Henry Kissinger from becoming President looks pretty good. Those are only the achievements of that highly prejudiced constitutional requirement in the last 30 years. Who knows what misery the Republic has been spared (and maybe spared in future) thanks to our founding fathers who wisely decided that immigrants could never be real Americans. Ever.

I'm only here to protest

While we are on the topic of religion, I did find this story on cnn rather amusing. It seems this minister likes to hang out at the local nude beach telling the people how immoral they are. He could be working to help feed the hungry or clothe the poor, but instead he spends time fighting the evil nudists by shouting at them at the beach. Thank goodness he’s there to look at – I mean save – all the horrible naked people.

Brother Outlandishman Has Lost His Way

From the first day I allowed you to express your views on the blog, first with addition of comments and then when I made you a member of the blogging team you have done nothing but vent your spleen on the very platform that allows you to do so in the first place. Your posts complaining about men in hawian shirts were amusing, but your growing hostility must be brought under control. I'm worried about your immortal soul, North. An angry heart plants the devil's seed, or something like that. You really ought to think about your afterlife more. Do you really want to be thrown into a lake of fire with a bunch of sodomites and unwed mothers? I didn't think so. Please mend your ways now and avoid this terrible fate. Submit to our loving heavenly father and cease biting the blog that feeds you. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Emergency Action Message@

My God (uhoh- hypocrisy/blasphemy alert), I hope that the person who posted that is someone outside our circle of freinds (uhoh- spelling alert). Its totally fine what this person thinks, but the one thing that bothers me is the whole spelling error nonsense. I troll the AOL political/news message boards (yes, I am very lonely, and very pathetic) and constantly neo-cons and southerners alike lambaste (uhoh- big word alert) people about their spelling, and go on to explain why a spelling error completly cancels anything that they said. Who cares about spelling? I did my best, why can't you just leave me alone!? I just type out whatever I am feeling at the moment, usually after I read something that pisses me off, and type out vicious vituperations (uhoh- alliteration AND big word alert) because I feel that everyone must subscribe to what I believe. Oh wait, no thats not it. Unfortunately (i cant spell that word, and ill be damned if i am going to look it up in the dictionary) though, this person sounds like North. I mean come on, look at all the spelling errors and the words that should be capitalized but aren't. What really steams my clams though is the misuse of ellispses. Everyone knows that ellipses require 3 periods not two. 99.999% of the crap I spew is just overreaction meant for entertainment, if I wanted to really nail religions I would have to type it out very nicely and with actual facts to back up my dangerous generalizations. And I think its fair to say that all the obscenities that I use cancel out any "big words" that I use. I am going to continue typing because I have nothing better to do, and God strike me down if I ever stop.

Someone actually read the Blog!

other than us that is... and to top it off, he is a tool. The culprit goes by the name of "John" on the comments page, and I think his sincere indignation aught to be displayed in the open, for everyone to laugh at. I took the liberty of putting the parts I found particularly amusing in bold.

"Your October 8 post shows how moronic you are. Not only can you not spell correctly, but you continously belittle other people and groups. This in itself shows that you are a very insecure person who needs to cut others down to make yourself feel like someone special. I expect this behaviour from my nine year old son. Your comments on religion are rediculous. You are an Atheist obviously.. and as such, you have guaranteed yourself a one way ticket to hell. Yes, there are way too many religious sects.. not all of them can be correct. But I'd rather be a christian and a Baptist and be forgiven my trespasses.. than be an idiot and an Athiest like yourself.. who has to belittle others and try to spew big words to try and make myself feel like a real person. Your Blog should be called THE IDIOT ATHIEST BLOG."

Tom, I think this conclusively proves that your stance on religion is correct.

Heard in the Library

"I'm not one of those girls that obsesses over shoes, but when I saw her shoes the world just stopped for me."

Big Spender.

How much do you think you could spend in one day? I have very expensive tastes and I could probably spend about $200 million, thats including a $50+ million dollar house, a couple cars, a snazy wardrobe, some paintings and original artwork. I would still have a bunch of millions left over so I'd give it around to family. Thats probably as much as your can spend, reasonably, and not buying currencies or stocks. How about this though, could you or I keep that kind of spending up for a year? No way, that'd be 73b own the drain. Consider this though, every day, every day of the 365 days on the calendar, the US military spends about 1,175,342,465.75 give or take a few million per 24 hour period considering I was working with the 2002 defense budget and factoring in the $85 bil for Iraq.
Hows that for muckraking?

Testing on Animals.

This is something that a lot of people have said, but it needs to be brought up again. Animal testing should not be done on cute animals. I just saw a pic of Chrissie Hynde showing a picture of a beagle in a cage waiting to be tested on. Thats just not right. Beagles are just too damn cute to be tested on. Most dogs are. Dobermans, rottweilers, poodles, especially poodles, chiuahuas, and pit bulls can be tested on. Cute dogs should not be tested on. Rabbits are ok to test things on because although they are cute, they are dumb and breed, well, like rabbits. I cannot condone testing on cats either. Some cats are ok to test on, especially the ones from Asia, theres this one breed that just looks like its a mean cat. If thats too much to ask, then just spare the calico cats, I like those ones. But come on, testing on dogs, especially the cute ones, is just beyond the pale.

Looks Like They'll Let Anyone Have a Website Now.

The Palestinian Nat'l Authority has a website of its own now, which has been in the works for a couple of years now, but fighting had slowed its creation down. Aside from having a good deal of grammatical and spelling errors on the pages I checked out, their "Facts" section was a source of great entertainment. I recommend checking out the site just for fun. Its absurd.
This is the "facts" site.
This is the main site.

25-Love

In a meeting sometime in the past 2 years, George II met with the then-President of China, Zhang Zemin. In the meeting, there were 25 representatives from major corporations, yet noticably absent were human rights delegates. Hmm, thats wierd, the invitations must have been lost in the mail. Just goes to show you where Bush II's priorites are. He's pro-business, pro-capitalism, and pro-denying people the very basic human rights that we should all have. That shouldn't come as a surprise though as Bush II is ABA, ASPCA, AHA board-certified scum.

Mr. Pugh's Attack on Tom Ignites Toms Nationwide.

Mr. Pugh's virulent and wholesale attack on a Tom has led to an emergency caucus of the Brothers of Tom, the largest Tom organization in the United States. His mendacity will not go unpunished. Already, the militant wing of the B.o.T is mobilizing for a massive strike against Pugh intrests nationwide, including a Burmese whorehouse. I for one am apalled at the viciousness of Mr. Pugh's unprovoked attacks. I propos.... Wait, I just got some information from the New York B.o.T bureau about the specific Tom he has leveled these accusations against. I stand corrected. Mr. Pugh's attack was wholly within the realm of decency and we do not mind if he chooses to do so in the future.

Something to Broaden Your Horizions

The religious group called "the 7th Day Adventists" are stupid. But not just because they believe in God. This group was formed from another cult called the Millerites. These people are less stupid because it was founded in the 1800s and they were stupider back then. Anyway, they Millerites were led by a charismatic leader who told them the the world was going to end in 1843 and that the only way for salvation was to join his group. How convenient. Obviously, these idiots were proved wrong, just as every other doomsday jerkoffs have been since time immemorial. Anyway, this group split up after looking like a bunch of dunces after the world didn't end. Many joined other idiot cults and then some formed the 7th Day Adventists. Aside from believing in god and believing the world is going to end (we swear, real soon, so give us all your money, because it won't be worth anything in the Second Coming) they lead on the stupider elements of society (ie uneducated, inbred, southerners and the like), which just doesn't fly. When the hell is religion going to end? When are people going to grow up and leave this stupid, simian element of society behind? Dare I say that religion has caused more problems than it has created good things? Yes I think I do dare to say it. I stake my professional reputation that religion will die out as humans evolve and stop being so goddamn stupid and believe in fairies and angels and all that shit. Then we won't have to deal with so many religious conflicts. To hell with religion.

Where Has All the Text Gone?

Some regular readers (such as the members of this blogging team and that recurring visitor from Thailand) may have noticed that there are significantly more pictures on the blog than there have been in the past. This sudden jump in pictures can be very easily explained. Emotionally, every member of the Board of Pomposity has the emotional development of a small child and so we become very excited when we come across a new toy. Today's toy is using graphics on the blog, but let me assure you, we will soon grow board of it and like a Christmas puppy in Febuary, the pictures will eventually disappear.

Tom on the Blog War

YAY

Dave's Take on the Brian-North-Tom Blog War

Mr. China Goes to the Moon.

China, only 34 years late, is going to the moon. Well, I am not so sure about that. The "middle kingdom" as they like to think of themselves is so goddamn stuck up, that they make all foreign governments come and meet them on Chinese soil. What a bunch of rude assholes. We go to your country, its only fair that you come to ours. Anyway, some one should tell these pricks that WE HAVE THE BOMB! And lots of them. They better get their ass on a plane and start getting out some more. I hope their trip ends in a miserable failure so that their hubris is taken down a few notches.

Israel Strike into Syria Justified.

I won't be making any friends by saying this, but Israel's strike into Syria is totally justifiable. Israel, right after the US, has the best intel. organizations in the world. They knew for a fact that the camp was long deserted; they weren't trying to eradicate the camp. Israel is trying to send a message, unfortunatly, its a angry one, and a warlike one. Israel bombed that camp because it would send a message to the countries in that region that it would not stand idle while it continues to be targeted (like cafes and other civilian areas) by terrorists. Its really frustrating that the left side of the fence is siding with goddamn terrorists who kill themselves, women, children, and innocent people. Ahmed Queria, the incoming Palestinian PM recently reiterated the PLO's line that they wanted peace with Israel. Hah. He also said that he refuses to use force to eliminate terrorist groups within Palestine. So we are to believe that Queria, who is even more of a criminal than the ousted PM Abbas who pretty much led the attack on the Achille Lauro, is going to secure peace with Israel with words and not by eliminating terrorist groups within his country. What a joke. What makes the situation even more frustrating is that people continue to denouce Israel and its efforts to protect itself and its citizens from, literally, madmen terrorists. Heres a little secret... and bear with me, it has rash generalizations bordering on, dare I say it, the "R" word. The Palestinians are not helpless, trodden upon people who only wish to have "their" land back. No, they are ruthless. Israel does not directly target civilian establishments. Yes, they do kill many Palestinians who are categorized as "civilians." But, consider this: many of these so called civilians love to take up arms against the Israelis and just because they are not formal members of terrorist organizations like Hamas or Hezbollah, that does not mean that they are innocent bystanders. Again, yes, there are obviously an inordinate amount of Palestinian deaths as compared to Israeli deaths. Yes, there are accidents in which a Israeli jet bombs a building and kills innocent civilians, and that is terrible. But take this into consideration, Israel is fighting incredibly fair as compared to the Palestinians, who have no moral objection to continuing bombing EXCLUSIVELY civilian targets, such as cafes and discos. Its time that people stop the whole treating Palestinians with kid gloves just because they are the underdog. Its not fair, and its not right.

McNabb Not as Overrated as Everyone Says

McNabb is not as overrated as say a Larry Byrd. Everyone has heard of Larry Byrd probably because he was a good white basketball player. McNabb isn't a household name like Byrd is. No one forced Rush to resign, thats called firing, which Rush chose not to be on the receiving end of by quitting and saving face. Sure theres a double standard that lets blacks say certain things about whites, but in my understanding, its because of all the stuff whites have done to blacks, and are still doing today. Its the same thing with women. Women and minorities are paid less then white males. Its a documented fact. Rush is just a blowhard and they should have hired someone who knows more about football than Rush. Sure it boosted ratings, but why give someone like Rush the opportunity to spew his absurd rhetoric about being an oppresed white male (hah!).

Rush

Tom, you know nothing about the situation. Rush Limbaugh happens to be wrong in this situatin. Donovan is overated, but not because he is black. It is silly to force him to resign because Rush has an opinion about the media. The Media does not build up Steve McNair, an excelent black Quaterback, for example. Isaih Thomas said that the "Media hypes up Larry Bird because he is white" Did Isaih get in trouble? No, no one paid attention. Why is this racial double standard okay?

I Knew I Should Have Trusted Ashcroft When He Said That Librarians are Helping the Terrorists.

Backround: Sunday new talk show. Ed Meese, former Secy. of State(?) for St. Reagan was on with a woman from the ACLU talking about the PATRIOT act and how it wants to make librarians give up records to officials when they are looking for bookworm terrorists.

When it got to the question of the American Library Association's concerns about privacy, Meese suddenly lost his cool and blurted out, "Librarians are more interested in pushing pornography on kids than fighting terrorism!"

What a jerk off. No wonder he worked under Reagan.

Sure Sign of the Apocalypse

While watching one of the Sunday news talk shows, I discovered that life as we know it is soon coming to an end. It has nothing to do with numbers in the Kabbalah or that guy yelling on the corner. No, its much more insidious. Two black men were on the show arguing over Rush Limbaugh and his statement about Donovan McNabb. One problem, one of the black guys was siding with Rush. Curious. He was arguing that Rush's statements were not racist, but were the truth. Hmmm. This guy is a keeper. I think there's an opening on the Southern Partisan editorial board that would be perfect for this guy.

Congressman Blames Everything On Others, Hates Muslism and likes Segregation and Bribery.

According to the AP:
U.S. Rep. Cass Ballenger blames the breakup of his 50-year marriage partly on the stress of living near a leading American Muslim advocacy group that he and his wife worried was so close to the U.S. Capitol that "they could blow the place up."

This is not some fringe outfit either, but CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) a mainstream muslim organization. He percieved the presence of women wearing headscarves at CAIR as a sign that the organization was up to something. Last year, Ballenger said that Cynthia McKinney stirred in him "a little bit of a segregationist feeling." Rep. Ballenger also blamed the failure of his marriage on new rules that barred lobbyists from buying dinner for congressional couples, because it damaged his wife's social life and not because, as some critics have alleged, he's an "enormous tool".

Makes You Scratch Your Head.

Ed Gillespie, the RNC chairman said in a Sept. 23 interview that gays are guilty of "religious bigotry" and "intolerance" for demanding equal marriage rights. Come again? Gays being guilty of bigotry because they asked for EQUAL rights? Supposedly gay rights is going to be a big issue in the coming election. Conservatives want to really ram Democrats hard with the topic.

Unsafe In Any Election

Nader undecided on presidential bid
I bet this monomaniac will run in 2004, despite the fact that the last 3 years have shown pretty clearly that Bush is significantly worse than any Democrat (in case you were too much of an idiot..er..idealist to realize that in 2000). It would be just his style, because somehow destroying the main force for progress (the Democrats) in American politics will lead to a new progressive golden age.

0 man.

I'm not done with the Aryan Menace yet, far from it as a matter of fact. I will continue to attack this big bastard untill the very end, because a tool like this should not hold an elected office of any kind.

Schwarzenegger "Admired Hitler"

"I admired Hitler, for instance, because he came from being a little man with almost no formal education, up to power. I admire him for being such a good public speaker and for what he did with it."

You can claim that a raunchy interview with a defunct porn magazine doesn't mattter because that was when you were young and stupid, the same thing can't be said about LIKING HITLER.

Oh yes, I'd like to officially designate Arnold as a "slave banging, Hitler loving queer", in the words of John Stewart. At least one of those charges on target, so I'm actually way more accurate than other news sources.

It Is Even Worse

The CDC study was much less conclusive than it might sound at first. The task force found that there was "insufficient evidence to determine effectiveness." So basically, the report proved nothing at all.

Federal Report Questions Effectiveness of Gun Control Laws, Idiots Think That Means That Gun Control Laws are Useless.

While I happen to love guns, playing with guns (especially my father's gun, which I found left loaded and just lying on his desk, after I smoked pot and impregnated this girl), I don't like the NRA and these anti-gov't, anti-common sense gun nuts. A fed report that just came out questions the effectiveness of gun control laws. Gun nuts say that this means that, since they don't work, that means that we should get rid of them. I commend these people for their insight and understanding of this subject. Killing control laws haven't worked since the dawn of time, so I guess that means we should get rid of those too. No? The point is, they don't work because local gov'ts in states, mainly the south (and I am not singling out the south because I hate it and the ignorant, back water idiots who live there) have initiatives put on the ballot for reducing gun control laws. THATS WHY THE SOUTH IS THE STARTING POINT FOR THE "IRON PIPELINE." The Iron Pipeline is what the illicit trade of guns from the south to the north is called. The majority of guns that are used to commit crimes come from the south because of their lax gun laws. So, idiots like the NRA call it a victory when a bill is passed in rural Mississippi that lightens gun control laws. One month later, a 9mm purchased from Cledus' Gun Shawp is used to kill a school kid. Then the NRA comes out and condemns illegally purchased arms. Its a vicious cycle.

Time to Declare a State of Emergency

Libertarian group chooses New Hampshire as 'free state'

Libertarians have been looking for a state to re-settle in en masse in order to force it to undergo a political transformation and become some kind of limited government utopia. Now the Libertarians have made their decision and targeted New Hampshire as their chosen free-state-to-be. If I were a liberal, or a person of moderate sense living in New Hampshire, I'd be quite unnerved by all of this. One of New Hampshire's main attractions for the Libertarians was the states constiution, which guarentees the right to revolution and succession. Given that these people really don't like the the enormous and intrusive modern federal government and would like to get rid of a lot of its laws, I think those provisions in the state constitution could be a source of some trouble.

Anyway, here are my predicitons:
1) The most likely course of events is the Liberarians never get their shit together because they never left the rebellious stage of their teenage years and are completely unable to organize anything or that a few do actually move to New Hampshire, but not enough to really change things in any meaningful way.
2)The Libertarians eliminate almost every single tax and regulation in the Great State of New Hampshire, elect Milton Friedman as governor and Tommy Chong as Attorney General and businesses flock to the state and because of shining model of the productive powers of the free makret unleashed.
3)The Libertarians take over New Hampshire and revolutionize its politics, declaring dozens of federal laws and statutes null and void. The national guard is put under the control of Governor Galt and the federal government remains unable to reign in New Hampshire because our combat strength is tied down in Iraq. Taking a page from Machiavelli, President Bush decides to destroy what he cannot control and US Air Force turns vast streches of the state into hideous dunes of ash and splinters of bone.

An Astronomy Lesson By Tom

Why Did they Hire Rush?

Some of you may know that ESPN has had Rush Limbaugh, legendary pie eater and right wing blowhard, to its commentator roll. Why? They should have learned their lesson with Dennis Miller, who sucks a lot. Rush Limbaugh, undoubtebly, sucks a lot more, and a lot harder. On a recent pre-game analysis session, Rush pulled this gem right out of his ass saying that McNabb (a quarterback) was being given too much attention, because the media wanted to see a black quarterback do well. Excuse me? Oh, thats right, you are an asshole and you are fighting the evil ZOG thats trying to make white men into wimps so that black men can take our women. I for one see no value in this scumbags life and will publicy applaud his assasin. If you want hard hitting commentary, you should have hired HANNITY and colmes.
