Slate has an article on pyschedelic drugs, today. Apparently there is a case going before the Supreme Court about federal anti-pyschedelics laws. The article has a number of excellent arguments against these laws and provides pretty good evidence, but I think its overoptimistic. I doubt these (or any other drug laws) are going anywhere, no matter how boneheaded and atrocious their consequences.
The Board of Pomposity
"When my heart is cold and I cannot pray as I should I scourge myself with the thought of the impiety and ingratitude of my enemies...so that my heart swells with righteous indignation and vehemence: 'Holy be Thy Name, Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done!' And the hotter I grow the more ardent do my prayers become." -Martin Luther, "Table Talk," Number 2387 a-b
