WHO IS JOHN EDWARDS AND WHY IS EVERYONE SUCKING UP TO HIM?
The recent fawning over North Carolina Senator John Edwards (the New Yorker article is a prime example) is disgusting. The pundits have been breathlessly hyping his shot at the presidency in '04 and have been ignoring and downplaying some of Edward's major flaws. Edwards is an inexperienced prettyboy and slithering opportunistic dixiecrat. Edwards is a first term Senator and has very little experience, I know inexperience isn't an issue in the GOP (Bush has served fewer years in government than any other president in the last 60 years), but I hope that my party has higher standards. I don't think his former occupation will be a problem (like some publications and the GOP have said), though the country has little taste for lawyers, Edwards career meshes nicely with the populist image he wants to promote. The cases he took were along the lines of "mangled children against greedy corporations". Edward's mortal sin in my mind is voting for Bush's tax cut in spring 2001. Edwards provided crucial bi-partisan cover for one of the most absurd policies cooked up. The Bush tax cut that gave 40% of its benefits to the richest 1% of Americans and has created an enormous deficit which will strangle the economy and stalk us for years and now Edwards claims to be on the side of the little guy! John Edwards
is definetly fighting for the people, the question is which people.

THAT'S ENOUGH FOR TONIGHT. This turned out to be much more of an angry anti-Edwards screed then I meant it to be. When I find the time I'll beat it into shape or maybe just a bloody screaming pulp. Until then enjoy.
